TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pluit reservoir in North Jakarta has not been dredged since early 2014. The depth of the reservoir is decreasing to 3-4 meters from 7 meters in December 2013, said Jakarta Public Works Agency’s head of water management, Djoko Susetyo, yesterday.

The dredging had stopped since the Jakarta Public Works Agency allocated no funds for such purpose in the 2014 Jakarta Budget. PT Intiland has promised to include reservoir dredging in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. Djoko said the company proposed the CSR program in November 2013, when Jakarta administration was drafting the 2014 budget.

"We decided not to allocate any funds from the budget due to Intiland's CSR program," said Djoko.

What appears to be the issue is that Intiland has yet to run its CSR program, while the reservoir depth is decreasing due to water hyacinth, waste, garbage and mud deposit.

"We're still waiting for confirmation from Intiland about its CSR program. We will keep notifying them," Djoko said.
