EU Ambassador Praises Indonesia's Election

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - The European Union ambassador to Indonesia Olof Skoog, applauded the legislative election that was recently carried out on April 9, 2014. "We observed, and Indonesian elections are very impressive," said Skoog on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
Skoog said Indonesia's achievements in democracy in the last ten years were remarkable, and hoped that the presidential election on July 9, 2014 would run smoothly and peacefully as well.
"I hope the new president could continue the transparency to the international community, including with the European Union," said Skoog.
Registration for presidential and vice presidential candidates will begin on May 18. There are currently three figures that will surely run for presidential candidacy, they are Joko Widodo, Prabowo Subianto and Aburial Bakrie. Each candidate is currently searching for a suitable vice presidential candidate.
