TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Association of the Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo) will not dispute over Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) being presided over by foreigners. The association's chief, Jongki Sugiarto, viewed nothing is wrong with foreigners becoming the head of Indonesian automotive industry.
"There are several car factories in Indonesia led by foreigners. This is a normal thing, as long as they follow the regulations in Indonesia," he said to Tempo yesterday.
It was previously reported that Johnny Dharmawan has pensioned as the organization’s CEO, which he had held for 12 years. The position has been handed over to Hiroyuko Fukui, 54, in Jakarta, Thursday.
Hiroyuki Fukui is the current Managing Director of Toyota Motor Corporation.
