TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Besides appointing 180 school principals and public health clinics (puskesmas) heads through open selections and promotions, the Jakarta Governor, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has also appointed a number of village and subdistrict heads.

According to Jokowi, an evaluation is conducted every six months in order to monitor the performance of village and subdistrict heads. "The result was the replacement of five village heads and one subdistrict head," he said at the Town Hall, Friday, March 21. If their performance was not according to specified standards, he said, they were likely to be replaced.

The subdistrict head that has been replaced is in Cilincing,North Jakarta. According to Jakarta Employment Agency Head, Made Karmayoga, the chief had been replaced because of his health matter. "He is ill, so it is difficult for him to show good performance," Karmayoga said.

Meanwhile, the five village heads that have been replaced are all located in Central Jakarta, which are in Karet Tengsin, Gambir, Paseban, Kebon Sirih and Serdang. "They are linked to their performance, where the survey's result indicates the public's lack of satisfaction," Karmayoga explained.
