TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Moeldoko has received 24 units of Anoa armoured personnel carriers (APC) in the Indonesian Peace and Security Center in Bogor on Friday. In the handover ceremony this morning, PT Pindad director Tri Hardjono symbolically handed over an Anoa miniature to General Moeldoko.
The general said the national-produced APC has a good quality. "It is secured and comfortable for my men," he said. Moeldoko then observed the APC and entered the cockpit.
The 24 Anoas will be sent to Darfur, Sudan, to support the UN peace mission. The APCs will be painted white with the UN logo.
Tri Hardjono said he was very honored to have been able to produce tactical vehicles for the TNI. He promised to improve the quality and technology of TNI’s primary weaponry defense system. "We hope TNI will continue to use our products," Tri said.
The TNI has bought 226 Anoas from Pindad. They have been spread to several areas such as Siliwangi military command, Jaya military command and Presidential Security Detail.
