TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama a.k.a. Ahok asked the Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to make survey on decent living standards in Jakarta for the next few years. The survey will refer to decent living standards from basic life needs.

"So it's not determined by US$1 or US$2 and also not by caloric needs per person," said Ahok at City Hall on Monday. “But to see whether these people are fit to live in Jakarta with their income."

Ahok said with that survey, it can be seen how many people are living under decent life line. "We will also request for community satisfaction index toward auctions of district and sub-district heads."

Ahok explained that Jakarta is different from other regions because capital city must have its decent living standards fulfilled 100 percent. In 2016, he said, there will be an economic census which was last carried out in 2006. That is why, he wants to see the comparison of the results of the economic census in 2006 to create a balance so that people could fulfill their living standards.

One of the ways is to combine and develop Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). "UMKM can accommodate two to three people. From there, it can be seen the comparison of number of businessmen in 2006 and 2016," he said.
