TEMPO.CO, Washington, D.C - US President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin have discussed in a phone call yesterday about the security of Winter Olympics in Sochi that will be held in February 7.

Quoted by Telegraph, Obama called Putin amid concerns about threats from militants to disrupt the games. Both leaders want to guarantee "safe and secure" games for all athletes.

The US has offered full assistance to support the games. Last Monday, Pentagon stated its willingness to dispatch its navy and air force as well as two warships to the Black Sea for securing the Olympics.

Reuters also reported on Sunday, that the US military and intelligence officials will also prepare contingency plans to evacuate US citizens if emergency situation occurs.

However, some US officials expressed concerns if emergency situation does happen. Russia is historically known for rejecting foreign military troops, especially the US' to enter its territory.
