TEMPO.CO, Beirut - Five people, including four children, were injured during an airstrike by the Israeli Air Force (ISAF) in five different locations in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, last Wednesday. Israel claimed the attack was a form of retaliation for the five rockets shot from the Palestine Area.
Official Israeli military statements say the five points were training camps used by Hamas, who ruled Gaza since 2007. One other location was assured to be the headquarters of the Al-Qassam Brigade, Hamas’ military wing.
Medical sources said the attack injured four children and a woman. “They are currently being cared for in the hospital,” said the source.
The attack was made a few hours after the rockets had been fired in the direction of Ashkelon coast, south of Israel. Israel's Iron Dome defense system shot down five rockets, while six others detonated in open areas.
This was the second attack by Israel this week. Last Monday, Israeli fighter jets also attacked the Gaza area. No one was injured during the airstrike. This time, it was a retaliation for the five rockets shot towards south Israel, just one hour after the funeral of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) said the projectiles struck an open area in the vicinity of Hanegev Sha’ar. There were no damages or casualties reported.
