TEMPO.CO , Damascus - Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that at least 43 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack at an army checkpoint in Syria's central city of Hama.
Syrian state-owned news agency SANA reported that the attacker blew himself up inside his vehicle on Sunday, October 20, right on a crowdly packed road in the city. Pictures broadcasted on Syrian television showed firefighters trying to put out huge fires and black clouds of smoke rising from charred trucks and cars.
SANA blamed the attack on terrorists, the term the news agency uses to describe rebel forces trying to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 32 civilians were killed in the attack.
