TEMPO.CO, Palembang - Indonesian athletes have managed to pull off some successful string for achieving one gold and one bronze medal from the Karate event of the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG). Head of Indonesia Sport Committee Rita Subowo said that the victory could be a great start for later campaign in the SEA Games.
Indonesian male Karate team, which consists of Aswar, Faisal Zainudin, and Fidelys Lolobua, managed to show off their talent to other athletes from the Islamic Confederation Nations after defeating Kuwait in the final round.
Rita later added that the success may inspire other athletes to strive for the best. Despite being the host country of the ISG, Indonesia currently sits at the sixth position with only two gold medals.
"[The Karate team] is our hero today, as they managed to beat Kuwait, the [Karate] World Champion," Rita said.
