TEMPO.CO, Surakarta - Surakarta will hold its annual Solo International Performing Art (SIPA) event again this month from September 20 to 22 at Pura Mangkunegaran in Pamedan, Solo. This year, various countries from around the world will participate to tell tales and legends from their respective regions.

Head of the SIPA 2013 committee, Irawati Kusumarastri, said that a number of delegations from Indonesia and oversees have confirmed their participation.

"They’re from Sweden, China, Japan and the United Kingdom," she said on Monday.

Meanwhile, delegations from Indonesia will fly in from West Sumatra, Aceh, Jakarta and Madura. Unlike previous events, there will only be one representative from Solo for SIPA 2013.

Irawati said these representatives would perform various arts according to world legends and history. Although many will be traditional, the committee will not limit these performers from displaying contemporary art performances.

The only act from Solo, Paundrakarna, said that it has prepared a show entitled Bidadari Genit (The Flirty Angel). This dance piece was adopted from the angel in the Javanese legend Jaka Tarub.
