South and North Korea finally agreed to make a joint management committee to run business operations in Kaesong industrial park.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Kaesong industrial complex in North Korea is reopened, five months after it was closed due to political tensions with the South Korea. Trucks and cars were seen crossing the border heading North Korea yesterday on Sunday, September 15, 2013.

As many as 800 South Koreans crossed the border, heading to the zone that hosts 123 factories. They blend in with other 50,000 North Korean to begin their industrial activity.

Kaesong is the main revenue source for North Korea. The site, however, was abandoned after a political tension following Pyongyang Nuclear test earlier this year. The industrial zone was launched in 2003, making in total US$470 million. The South Korean paid over US$80 million for the North Korean workers.

The re-opening negotiation took weeks before finally took place yesterday. The two Koreans finally agreed to make a joint management committee to run business operations in Kaesong.
