TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy speaker of the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD DKI Jakarta) Abraham Lunggana, alias Lulung, has called on Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to mind what he says as a public official.

Lulung added the deputy governor should refrain from making mindless statements against the DPRD.

“A government official must abide by the law, don’t make careless remarks,” Lulung said Wednesday, September 3, 2013.

Lulung said DPRD councilmen convened an executive meeting on August 19, 2013 to discuss the possibility of summoning the vice governor. Party faction executives attending the meeting included those of the National Development Party (PPP), the Golkar party, the People’s Conscious Party (Hanura), and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). He added among the DPRD executives in the meeting were himself, Triwisaksana, and Ferrial Sofyan.

Lulung said councilmen in the meeting decided to meet Ahok in familiar meeting to settle the issue. “We were trying to settle this in a familiar way, the DPRD secretary tried to contact him,” the luxurious Rubicon owner said.

Lulung said DPRD secretary Ferrial Sofyan had invited Ahok to the meeting but gained no response. “Ferrial said he hadn’t reply yet. He said the DPRD speaker was quite disappointed,” Lulung said.

Consequently, the PPP faction considered the vice governor had violated the Law No. 32 Year 2004 Article 27 and the Home Affairs Ministry’s Regulation No. 24 Year 2011 on the Duties and Authority of Governor as the provincial ruler. The regulation said both governor and deputy governor must uphold public ethics and norms in governing their regions.
