TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will bring up the conflicts in Syria and Egypt during the 8th G20 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. "I will meet with the President of South Africa and the Secretary-General of the United Nations," Yudhoyono said at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Sunday, 1 September.
The president will discuss about Syria and Egypt specifically with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. SBY claimed that the UN often consulted him about the problems of conflict and reform in the Middle East.
SBY also plans to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss about bilateral relationship between the two counries. The government intends to strengthen economic ties between Japan and Indonesia, particularly related to the weakening global economy.
"We could face (the situation) if we cooperate with and obtain actual benefits from Japan," the president said.
