TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Development Planning Minister who is also the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) director Armida Alisjahbana said that the difference in quality between national roads and regional roads is substantial. The minister said that the stability of national road in 2012 reached 90.5 percent.

Meanwhile, Bappenas data revealed that the stability of provincial roads only reached 60 percent. "Roads under the city of district administration are worse with the level of stability of 40 percent," said Armida during a discussion on the acceleration of infrastructural development attended by reporters in Jakarta on Monday, July 22.

Armida added that the discrepany in road quality will affect investments and economic growth in the regions. Bad road quality leads to poor connectivity. "This will increase logistics costs and reduce investors' interest to cover the regions," said the minister.
