Morsi Family Accuses Army of Kidnapping

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The family of the deposed Egypt president, Mohammed Morsi, criticized the country's military, claiming Morsi's detention as a "kidnapping."
The statement was the first statement released by the ex-president's family since he was ousted by the military on July 3, 2013. He was then held without charge and brought to a secret place nobody knows of. His family also completely lost contact with him.
"What happened is a crime of kidnapping," one of his sons, Osama, a lawyer. "I can't find any legal means to have access to him."
Speaking to a Cairo news conference, Osama described his father's detention as "embodiment of the abduction of popular will and a whole nation," and said the family will "take all legal actions" to end his detention.
"We are in the process of taking legal action through international and local courts against chief of Egypt's armed forces Abdel Fatah al-Sissi, and his collaborators," Morsi's daughter, Shaimaa, told the press.
The United States, along with some other countries, has called for Morsi to be freed.
