TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Myanmar claimed to operate curfew in Thandwe, West of Rakhine State, after riot on Sunday June 30.
Zaw Moe Aung, a local official in Thandwe, mentioned that the situation is relatively stable. "All shops and schools begin to open like usual, with security forces are deployed across the city," he said in a statement.
The riot began when a rumor spread that a Buddhist girl had been raped by two Muslims on Saturday.
She had reported the incident to the police, but the enraged community marched on and put a search on the two rapists, allegedly from Kaman ethnicity.
