TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Gatot Abdullah Mansyur, said he was unaware about the incident where 30 Indonesian citizens were arrested due to the riot that occurred at the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah.

"I cannot confirm, that's law enforcement by the local government," Gatot told Tempo on Tuesday, June 11.

He explained that if the local police apprehend Indonesian citizens, the Indonesian Embassy will only accompany them during their trial according to procedure.

Previously, 30 Indonesian citizens were arrested by the police due to the riot that broke out at the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah last Monday, June 10. While being detained at the Samali Hirehab police station for around 9 to 10 hours, the prisoners were given no food or water. They were then transferred to the Tarhill Penitentiary.
