TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pros and cons over the relocation of the Jakarta Fair (PRJ) to the National Monument (Monas) area emerged among visitors of the fair, which is held to celebrate Jakarta's 468th anniversary. The fair started on Thursday, June 6. Some visitors agreed that the biggest exhibition and entertainment event in Southeast Asia to be relocated while others prefer the event to be held in its usual location in Kemayoran.
The visitors were also asked about the issue following the termination of cooperation between the Jakarta governor and the fair's event organizer JIExpo for next year's Jakarta Fair. Governor Joko Widodo said that currently, the fair did not provide access for small vendors and thus the event requires an 'update' in terms of format and location.
The 2013 Jakarta Fair is held with a total projected transaction of Rp 4,5 trillion (US$459,44 million). The event will last 32 days with a line-up of nonstop concerts from 260 artists. For the first day of the event, visitors will be entertained with a firework display, but the official inauguration of the event will not be conducted until Monday, June 10.
