TEMPO.CO, Surakarta – The implementation of debtor information system by Bank Indonesia since 2009 has hindered the distribution of loans for micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).
Coordinator for the Solo Raya Bank Financial Consultant Partner (KKMB) Unggul Koeshendratmoko stated that many small businesses encountered difficulties in obtaining loans from banking and financial institutions because they are listed in the information system as debtors wih outstanding loan payments.
"The loan amount is small. Their late payment was not on purpose, but merely because business is slow," said Unggul during the debtor information system socialization event at the Bank Indonesia Solo office on Monday, June 3.
Unggul added that even after the loans are paid, businesses still find it difficult to access bank loans because their names will still be listed as debtors with outstanding payments for two years. Therefore, these businesses will not get any loan for two years to develop their businesses. "Some went bankrupt," Unggul claimed.
