Manado Schools Charge Rp 250,000 for Graduation Certificate

TEMPO.CO , Manado - Schools in Manado have been charging Rp 250,000 (US$25.27) for student's certificate administration. School administration claimed that the money was a compensation for three years of the students' personal development.
Dr. Richard Sualang, Head of Commission D of the Manado Regional House of Representatives, admitted that he has received several reports regarding the issue.
"This is a terrible. After the national examination fiasco, now students must pay to get their graduation certificate," said Sualang. He confirmed that his commission has filed in a report to the Manado Education Department.
Corry Tendean, Secretary of Manado Education Department, said that the department is currently investigating the matter.
