TEMPO.CO, Makassar - The second peace conference held by the Centrist Asia-Pacific Democrats International (CAPDI) has resulted in the Makassar Declaration. This declaration promotes moderate approaches as the best framework to solve various international issues elaborated in 21 points.
International figures who attended the signing of the declaration included Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Philippine president Fidel Ramos, CAPDI president Jose de Venecia Jr, former Indonesian vice president Jusuf Kalla, and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An.
The participants of the summit are certain that prosperity in the Asia-Pacific can only be gained by narrowing the development gap. One of the points in the declaration states that nations will not tolerate any status quo that strengthens economic, financial, or unjust social monopolization, especially those that destroy the environment.
CAPDI is a non-profit organization consisting of worldwide current and former state leaders and prominent figures in Asia-Pacific nations.
