CAPDI President Jose de Venecia Jr. ANTARA/Sahrul Manda Tikupadang
TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - During his opening speech at the Makassar peace conference, Centris Asia-Pacific Democrats International (CAPDI) president, Jose Venecia Jr, said the general elections held in some Asian countries are still dominated by money politics.
This applied to general elections held in South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the most recent one in Pakistan, he said.
Jose said this issue could not be easily stopped by enforcing criminal laws or even through politics. However, he said that money politics and corruption could be reduced by reforming political parties.
