TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Erajaya Group, parent company of Teletama Artha Mandiri (TAM), one of the most prominent BlackBerry distributors in Indonesia, expressed its concern about the distribution of illegal BlackBerries. The company gave an example of BlackBerry Q10 products that have been sold in the market, even if it has not been officially launched.

"The Q10 will be launched in the third week of June or early on July. Products that are being sold right now are certainly from the black market," said Djatmiko Wardoyo, Director of Marketing and Communications of Erajaya Group to Tempo on Tuesday, May 21.

The existence of black market goods were claimed to be very unsettling for distributor companies because authorized products will be having a hard time to compete with illegal products.

"We lost the competition when it comes to price. We have to pay 10 percent value added tax (PPN) and 2,5 percent income tax (PPh), while black market distributors do not," said Djatmiko.

He also added that in the long run, it will reduce state revenue. "We're not the only ones who will be at loss, the country and the consumers will also be at loss because there's no warranty for the products," Djatmiko stated.

Djatmiko urged the government to strengthen law enforcement by applying and intensly monitoring the implementation of Minister of Trade Regulation (Peraturan Menteri Perdagangan) No. 82/M-DAG/PER/12/2012 as strict as possible.
