TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Former Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso asked the Jakarta Scholarship Foundation to shift its fund to college students. Initially, the foundation, which is funded by the regional budget (APBD), is intended to distribute aid funds to students from Elementary School level to University level.
"But now we have Jakarta Smart Card for Elementary to Senior High Scool students, it will overlap if we distribute the Jakarta Scholarship as well," Sutiyoso said in the City Hall on Monday, May 20.
Sutiyoso stated that if the scholarship will be distributed to 11,000 college students . He also explained that from 2004 to 2012, the Foundation has channeled Rp 114 billion (US$11,67 million), with Rp 12 to 20 billion per academic year. Each college student will receive Rp 180,000 (US$18.44) per month. "So that they will be motivated to achieve many things," he hoped.
