TEMPO.CO, Damascus – A major explosion occurred near the Syrian National Affair Ministry at Marjeh District in Central Damascus, killing 13 people and injured 70 others.

According to a local television station, the attack occurred one day after the Syrian prime minister survived a bomb attack that occurs recently.

Meanwhile, according to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) in London, England, a human right organization, the attack killed nine people. The organization predicted that the number would add.

Sharif Shehadeh, Syrian Parliament Member, told Al Jazeera that "terrorism sponsored by other nations has taken its toll to innocent Syrian. Syria is devastated by terrorism sponsored by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and United States."

In relation to a statement saying that the attack was a response to recent attack by Syrian armed forces to a rebel stronghold, Shehadeh replied that " the Syrian Armed Force does its task in Damascus and other cities known as resistance basis."

He also added that the Syrian armed forces has managed to eliminate rebel bases from day to day.

"We have proposed a dialogue and we still request for a discussion. We keep on saying that guns cannot solve problems," Shehadeh concluded.
