TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) speaker, Taufiq Kiemas thinks that interfaith leaders criticism of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyonos government is normal.Criticism is permissible. In addition, no one (religious figures) said that the President should step down today, said Taufiq after attending World Interfaith Harmony Week, at Istora Senayan Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, yesterday.Taufiq said that the criticism conveyed by religious figures are not ill natured and still within the limits of democracy. Furthermore, criticism are inputs that the government should listen to.At the same occasion, DPR Speaker Marzuki Alie said he appreciated the religious figures positive contribution in resolving the nations problems, because it was everyones responsibility.We cannot blame one party. We must look at many institutions, which is our common responsibility, he said.In the meeting, Indonesian religious leaders campaigned on the importance of interfaith harmony. Chairman of Inter Religious Council Presidium, Din Syamsuddin said in his opening speech that the meeting conveyed the message that Indonesia, as a plural society, should remain united and put harmony on top of everything.MUNAWWAROH
