TEMPO Interactive, Kuala Lumpur:Although foreign ministers of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) agreed to battle terrorism on Monday (1/3), the first day of the OIC forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the meeting has yet to agree on a definition of terrorism. The first day of the forum was opened with official statement from all OIC delegation condemning Israel as regards recent events in Palestine. Some 17 of the 53 delegations then delivered their opinions regarding terrorism and the remaining were scheduled to deliver their opinions on Tuesday (2/4). According to Bahrain foreign affairs minister Abdul Ghaffar, before defining the term of terrorism, the delegations need to differentiate between this matter and a struggle to fight against the threat of foreign invasion. “Such struggle is guaranteed by international laws and agreements,” said Ghaffar. Based on this, he said he considered the struggle of Palestinian people against Israel could not be considered as terrorism. “They’re fighting against the invasion and threats of Israel,” Ghaffar said, adding that what Israel has done to Palestine can be considered as a form of terrorism.
