The athlete nicknamed "Megatron" previously caught the world's attention while playing with Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks in the South Korean Volleyball League (V-League) for two seasons (2023-2024 and 2024-2025).

In her second season, she helped the club finish as the runner-up in the women's V-League for the 2024-2025 season, an improvement from the third position achieved in the previous season.

Megawati's decision to join Manisa BBSK marks a significant step in her career. Her move to Turkey also signifies a new chapter in her personal life.

A day before this announcement, on July 4, 2025, Megawati Hangestri officially married national finswimming athlete Dio Novandra Wibawa in Jember, East Java.
