TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President-elect Prabowo Subianto said there’s no need to worry for Indonesia once it achieves food and energy security. He even mentioned that Indonesia would not have to fear anyone in the world.

Food-energy, these are the keys. Once we are food-secure and energy-secure, we don’t have to fear anyone. We don’t have to worry about Rupiah (exchange rate),” he said during the closing of the National Mandate Party Congress on Saturday, August 24, 2024. “Let’s secure the food and energy first before downstream.”

Prabowo said he’s been gathering experts since he and Gibran Rakabuming were declared winners of the 2024 presidential election. “I immediately gathered agricultural, food, energy, economy, banking, and tax experts,” he said.

According to his team’s calculation, Prabowo said, Indonesia will reach food self-sufficiency in the next five years. Prabowo’s team also expected Indonesia to become the world’s food exporter.

Meanwhile, energy sector-wise, Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia would soon be able to forgo solar fuel imports since the country will push for biodiesel supply. “It’s on B35 now and we will accelerate them to B40, B50 at minimum,” he said.

According to the president-elect, Indonesia will save around US$20 billion with B50 production. “We will hopefully achieve B50 at the end of this year or the start of next year. We will save US$20 billion in a year, Rp300 trillion will be in circulation in Indonesia,” Prabowo Subianto said.
