TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ha Long Bay is one of Vietnam's iconic tourist attractions famous among international tourists. However, Vietnam also offers some of the most unique tourist attractions, from war-era tunnels to unusual structures. These unique places offer a different perspective on Vietnam, combining history, culture, and impressive nature.
Citing Times of India, these are some of the most unusual tourist attractions in Vietnam.
1. Cu Chi Tunnels
One of the most interesting and historically significant tourist attractions in Vietnam is the Cu Chi Tunnels, located near Ho Chi Minh City. This vast underground network stretches for more than 250 kilometers and played a vital role during the Vietnam War. The Viet Cong used these tunnels for communication, storage, and shelter. Today, visitors can explore one section of the tunnels. Crawling through these narrow passageways offers a sobering glimpse into the hardships of the past.
2. Hanoi’s Train Street
The city’s Train Street is an unusual destination that runs through narrow residential alleys. Trains pass through the track twice a day, inches from residential buildings and shops. The route is lined with cafes and shops so visitors can enjoy a coffee while they wait for the train’s arrival.
3. Han Son Doong
Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in central Vietnam is home to some of the most extraordinary caves in the world. Among them is Hang Son Doong, the world’s largest cave by volume. Discovered in 1991 and only recently opened to the public, the massive cavern has its own river, forest, and weather system. Exploring Hang Son Doong takes several days and requires special permits and an experienced guide.
4. Crazy House
The city of Dalat in the highlands of southern Vietnam is renowned for its cool climate and French colonial architecture. One of its most famous landmarks is the Hang Nga Guesthouse, commonly known as the Crazy House. Designed by Vietnamese architect ng Vit Nga, this unusual tourist attraction defies conventional architectural norms. The Crazy House resembles a fantasy world come to life with its organic shapes, winding staircases, and cave-like rooms.
