TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The online travel platform Agoda released that Bangkok is the top Asia Pacific summer destination for international travelers this year, followed by Seoul and Kuala Lumpur. This trend is based on an analysis of flights booked on Agoda between June and August this year, compared to the same period in 2023.
Bangkok remains the number-one summer destination for the second year in a row. Seoul has risen to the second spot, overtaking Singapore. Kuala Lumpur has also seen an improvement, moving up from fourth to third place. Singapore now holds the fourth position, while Tokyo has entered the top five, displacing Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President, Supply at Agoda said the summer of 2024 currently shows a trend towards Asia Pacific travel. Destinations like Bangkok, Seoul, and Kuala Lumpur continue to attract many travelers, reflecting their appeal and the diverse experiences they offer. “After I visited Seoul recently and climbed Inwangsan mountain, I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this city’s attractions,” he said.
Bangkok is notable for its seamless fusion of modernity and tradition which captivates visitors. Seoul is enchanted with its blend of high-tech innovations and ancient palaces, while Kuala Lumpur impresses with its striking combination of towering skyscrapers and rich cultural landmarks. Singapore’s ultra-modern skyline and Tokyo’s diverse neighborhoods continue to attract travelers.
Agoda offers travelers an extensive range of options, featuring over 4.5 million holiday properties, more than 130,000 flight routes, and over 300,000 activities.
Southeast Asian countries of which cities are deemed the most popular, including Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, recently relaxed their visa policies for foreign visitors.
