Top 10 Destinations for Australian Travelers, Indonesia Stands Out

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported a recent record of top destinations for Australian travelers with Indonesia leading the way. It stated that around 1.37 million Australian passport holders traveled to Indonesia in 2023. The data distributed that 86% of Australians went on a short vacation in Indonesia while the rest of 7% crossed the border to visit relatives.

New Zealand followed closely as the top destination for Australian travelers, with 1.26 million visits.

1. Indonesia

Indonesia ranked first of the top holiday destinations for Australians with Bali as the number 1 favorite. Indeed, Bali has lured a hefty amount of tourists with its pristine beaches, remarkable cultures, and dreamy nature-based attraction sites.

2. New Zealand

Ranking second on the list was New Zealand as one of the most popular overseas destinations for Australian travelers. Most Aussies spend their short vacation at famous tourist sites in New Zealand such as Auckland, Christchurch, and Queenstown; from diving into the panoramic oceans to savoring its mouthwatering delicacies.

3. USA

The United States offers a diverse range of tourism experiences to suit every traveler. From bustling city adventures to serene natural wonders, the country offers countless activities for vacationers and business travelers alike. With climates ranging from icy northern states to sun-drenched coastal regions, there's something for everyone.

4. UK

London has amassed a substantial number of Australians, boosting the UK as one of the top 10 destinations for Australian travelers. Despite being 24 hours away from Australia, the Australian census has reported as many as 87,000 Australians moved to the UK back in 2021. The high number explains the favoritism Australian passport holders show for the country.

5. Japan

9. Philipines

Manila and Cebu are two of the most popular cities in the Philippines attracting Australian travelers. Those who seek paradise-like vacation visited Cebu over the last few years.

10. Vietnam

Vietnam has made it onto the list of the top 10 destinations for Australian travelers due to its unique blend of culture and favorable exchange rate.
