TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mongolia has launched a new tourism campaign “Welcome MonGOlia” to achieve its 1 million foreign arrivals target by 2025. The country has rolled out new and diverse tourist attractions, including the unique reindeer sleigh and camel race.
The campaign is intended to prompt a hike in foreign arrivals after a sharp decline during the COVID-19 pandemic. To facilitate foreign visitors, Mongolia increases flight options, simplifies visa procedures, and offers visa-free entry for select countries.
Cultural Experiences
Nestled between Russia and China, Mongolia’s major point of attraction is its rich history and culture. Tour operators introduce tourists to traditional archery and eagle hunting demonstrations to offer them a taste of local traditions.
Outdoor enthusiasts are welcome to enjoy horseback riding and stroll across Mongolia’s national parks. From the triumphant cultures to mesmerizing views, every aspect of Mongolia’s tourism is poised to paint a stunning picture of the country’s diverse stories.
Communication Gap
Mongolia also carried out efforts to bridge the communication gap between tourists and locals by offering language courses. The country is also improving infrastructure and modernizing transportation services to facilitate international visitors.
The COVID-19 pandemic decimated Mongolia’s tourism industry and the country is in a state of recovery. At least 437,000 foreign tourist arrivals were recorded in the first seven months of 2024, a 25 percent rise compared to the previous year. South Korean tourists have nearly doubled this year, partially thanks to the under-four-hour flight from Seoul to Ulaanbaatar.
