TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung Regency, Bali, apprehended a Russian national suspected of cultivating marijuana. The individual, identified only by the initials 'AF', was arrested following a public complaint about his behavior in Banjar Cengiling, Jimbaran Village.
“The Inteldakim (Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement) Team checked his belongings and found 10.75 grams of marijuana,” said Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, in Jimbaran, Badung Regency, Bali on Thursday, August 15, 2024, as reported by Antara.
The immigration discovered that the 34-year-old man entered Indonesia on September 24, 2021. Therefore, in addition to the drug-related case, he violated the residence permit regulations by overstaying his 60-day visit permit.
Authorities seized AF's Russian passport, 16 bank cards, a savings book, a smoking device or bong, and marijuana-planting materials. Intelligence reports suggest that AF was cultivating marijuana, although further investigation is ongoing.
AF is currently detained at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office and will be handed over to police for questioning regarding the drug-related crime. During the press conference, AF attempted to speak multiple times. “I want to tell a story!” he shouted. But, he was immediately removed from the room by immigration officers.
