TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Australia launched a new five-year Development Partnership Plan (DPP) with Indonesia on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The plan aims to support Indonesia's development goals and continue the strong institutional and people-to-people links between Australia and Indonesia.

“Australia and Indonesia share a long-standing partnership built on mutual respect, collaboration, and trust. The Development Partnership Plan aligns with Indonesia's development priorities and long-term planning and remains adaptable and responsive to emerging challenges,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Penny Williams.

The Development Partnership Plan focuses on supporting equitable and sustainable economic transformation, climate-resilient communities, and strong institutions over the next five years. The key aspect includes a new Australia-Indonesia Climate and Infrastructure Partnership, which will jointly fund climate-resilient infrastructure projects.

Additionally, a larger bilateral health program will address health security and other health priorities such as nutrition. This DPP shows Australia's strong commitment to locally-led, inclusive, and sustainable development.

During the visit of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to Jakarta in June 2022, he expressed his commitment to deepening cooperation and friendship. Both nations seek to maximize the potential of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and continue the proposed A$200 million or Rp2 trillion infrastructure and climate fund.

Indonesia’s NGOs and various development stakeholders contributed to the preparation of this Development Partnership Plan.
