Christine Hakim Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at Malaysia Golden Globe Award 2024

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Senior Indonesian actress Christine Hakim received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Malaysia Golden Globe Award (MGGA). Christine, who is celebrating 50 years in acting, said it was an honor to receive the award, especially together with Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda.

“This is quite a long journey, I just realized it,” Christine said shortly after receiving the award at MGGA 2024, Kuala Lumpur, Saturday. July 27, 2024.

The woman who was born in Kuala Tungkal, Jambi, Indonesia, 67 years ago said that her long career journey to receive the award was certainly not only in the film industry, but also in her life.

The six-time Citra Cup recipient said she learns many things at every step and movies are her school and university.

“So until now I am still learning until God wants me to stop,” she said.

Christine also admitted that she had wanted to quit acting, but it didn't work out. Therefore, she said she will continue to spread love through movies.

The role of Cut Nyak Dhien in the film Tjoet Nja' Dhien by Eros Djarot was present in Kuala Lumpur not only to receive the award, but also to participate in the Malaysia International Film Festival on July 21-28.

She also gave a session on “Christine Hakim's Masterclass: The Drive of the Journey” at the film festival at GSC Lalaport BBCC, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, the film Serambi by renowned director Garin Nugroho, produced by Christine Hakim, was also screened at the film festival.

Christine Hakim was also seen starring in the first season of the American post-apocalyptic drama television series The Last of Us as an Indonesian scientist researching a deadly virus that swept the world.
