TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - European getaways seem to be increasingly popular, with more well-known countries and cities in the region starting to be overwhelmed by tourist visits. As revealed by Skyscanner, 81 percent of tourists choose 'Destination Dupes', a trend to explore less frequented destinations as alternatives to tourist-heavy vacation spots.
To ensure a less stressful and crowded holiday, make sure to visit Europe outside of the peak summer season, and try to travel from May to June and September to November.
1. Portugal
Portugal, located in Southern Europe, is an ideal destination for those looking to enjoy sunny beaches, historical landmarks, cultural spots, to magnificent landscapes. The best time to visit Portugal is from December to April. This country has a variety of exciting destinations ranging from cathedrals, and aquariums, to vineyards.
2. Andorra
Andorra is located between France and Spain in the Pyrenees Mountains. The number of tourists visiting Andorra is small, but not for the lack of interesting activities to do. Enjoy outdoor activities like hill climbing or hiking through the Enclar Valley from April to October. Meanwhile, skiing can be done from December to April. You can also visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites, open-air museums, and duty-free shopping in this country.
3. Slovenia
Slovenia is a less-visited country in Eastern Europe that offers stunning views.
