TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh is hosting the Indonesia Health Fest (IHF) at Prince Times Hotel in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, on Saturday, June 8, 2024. This significant event aims to foster collaboration and cooperation between the health sectors of Indonesia and Cambodia.

Recognizing the substantial potential of the Indonesian health industry in Cambodia, the Embassy is committed to encouraging healthy lifedata-styles, especially within the Indonesian community in Cambodia, according to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The opening ceremony of IHF 2024 featured remarks from Mang Sineth, the Deputy Governor of Sihanoukville, Preas Muslim, Under Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Health, and Santo Darmosumarto, the Indonesian Ambassador.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Darmosumarto stated, "The Indonesia Health Fest 2024 is a testament to our commitment to fostering strong ties between Indonesia and Cambodia, particularly in the health sector. We see immense potential for collaboration that can benefit both our nations."

IHF 2024 showcases a comprehensive exhibition of Indonesian and Cambodian health industries. Attendees can benefit from free basic medical health checks and participate in a health forum. The forum includes presentations from health practitioners, experts, and policymakers from both countries, discussing crucial health-related issues.

Ambassador Darmosumarto highlighted the importance of the health forum, saying, "The discussions we are having at IHF 2024 are vital. Addressing issues such as drug abuse, cardiovascular diseases, and sexually transmitted diseases is essential for the health of our communities. By bringing together experts and policymakers, we can develop strategies to combat these challenges effectively."

Through events like IHF 2024, the Indonesian Embassy continues to strengthen ties between Indonesia and Cambodia while advocating for healthier lifedata-styles. It is a befitting event to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Indonesia-Cambodia relations.

In 2023, the Indonesian export of health products to Cambodia amounted to US$29.4 million, a significant portion of the bilateral trade, which reached US$1.1 billion. Indonesia is keen to push for more interactions among the stakeholders in the health sector between the two countries.
