TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Tangerang Police and the Forensic Laboratory Center are investigating the fire at the Allnite & Day Alam Sutera Hotel that killed three people. Six people were trapped in an elevator during the fire on Saturday, June 8, 2024, and three of them died.

"We can say that so far the investigation process is still in progress, investigators have also coordinated with Puslabfor so that the investigation process is carried out scientifically," South Tangerang Police spokesman Adj. Comr. Pol. Agil said on Monday, June 10.

Second Inspector Andira Wigata, head of the South Tangerang Police Car Investigation Unit, said the initial suspicion was that the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. But there are other suspicions because cigarette butts were found at the scene.

Andira confirmed that he has interviewed a number of witnesses and reviewed CCTV footage at the scene. The aim is to determine if there is any suspicion of negligence in the fire incident, either on the part of the hotel management or the guests.

All three victims who died in the fire have been buried.
