TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, May 27, denounced Israel's attack on Rafah, a region previously designated as a ‘safe area’ for Palestinian people. “Sunday's attack on Rafah, which came after the International Court of Justice's order, has exposed the treacherous and bloody nature of the terror state,” Erdogan said in Istanbul as reported by Anadolu.

He was referring to the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) order to Israel to stop the bloodshed. He also lambasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for Israel's genocide of Rafah residents.

“The embattled Netanyahu and his murderous network are trying to extend their grip on power by massacring people as they fail to defeat Palestinian resistance,” Erdogan said.

“Netanyahu won't be able to save himself from being lamented like (former Yugoslav strongman Slobodan) Milosevic, (genocide convict Bosnian Serb politician Radovan) Karadzic, and (late German dictator Adolf) Hitler, who he is imitating,” he added.

Erdogan emphasized that Turkey will exhaust all means at its disposal to ensure that Israel is held accountable for its transgressions.

On Sunday, May 26, the targeted Israeli attacks on the Rafah refugee camp killed at least 35 people and left dozens wounded. The Gaza Media Office reported that the attack occurred in close proximity to the logistics base of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, in Tal al-Sultan.

Israeli aircraft employed missiles and 2,000-pound bombs to target several tents in the area, leading to widespread devastation.

Previously, Gaza's Civil Defense said the targeted area was home to at least 100,000 displaced people.
