TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the obstruction of humanitarian aid delivery from the international community, including Indonesia, to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip by Israeli extremists.

"Indonesia strongly condemns the blockade and ransacking carried out by Israelis on humanitarian assistance from the international community for the people of Gaza," The ministry posted on its social media on Thursday, May 16.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the neglect carried out by Israeli security forces proves Israel continues to try to obstruct the distribution of humanitarian aid to Gaza residents.

"This action should be duly prosecuted and steps must be taken to ensure that it does not happen again," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Considering the importance of humanitarian assistance to the safety of the Palestinian people, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges the UN Security Council to demand guarantees from Israel for the smooth delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.

The ministry noted that measures taken by the UN are necessary to prevent the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Israeli right-wing extremist groups again blocked aid trucks at the Tarqumiya crossing on Monday, destroying desperately needed humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza.

In videos circulating on social media, the settlers are seen throwing and stepping on cardboard boxes and food packages they snatched from aid trucks. It can be seen in the video that one of the aid destroyed by extremists was instant noodle products from Indonesia.

Israel's aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has killed more than 35,100 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children.

According to the UN, the Israeli attack displaced 85 percent of Gaza's population, damaged 60 percent of infrastructure in Gaza, and caused severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.

Despite international pressure, the Israeli government continues to limit the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, leaving hundreds of thousands of civilians at risk of acute starvation.
