TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has secured the third spot among the top 20 most competitive countries in Asia to attract investors, based on research conducted by the financial and investment site, Insider Monkey 2024.

The institution published the list based on the global competitiveness ranking issued by the Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD).

2. Airlangga Preps to Mitigate Economic Impact of Iran-Israel Conflict

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto affirmed that his side has conducted a meeting to anticipate the potential impact of Iran's attack on Israel on the country’s economy.

“We hope for de-escalation of the situation, but as the economic sector office, we have to prepare for various global shocks,” Airlangga said at his office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, April 16.

Iran launched attacks on Israel on Saturday night, April 13, in retaliation for the bombing of its consulate building in Syria. This incident has had a detrimental effect on the global economy, particularly in Asia.

3. Indonesia Issues Dengue Fever Warning to Bali Tourists

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Health Ministry has issued an early warning asking local and foreign tourists to remain alert against dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), which is on the rise in Bali.

"We also carry out warnings in local media to remind people to beware of dengue fever. The disease usually increases at the beginning of the year," the ministry's director of infectious disease prevention and control, Imran Pambudi, said on Monday.

He made the statement in response to a tourist from Queensland, Australia, being diagnosed with dengue fever during a 10-day holiday in Bali.
