1. Taiwan Earthquake Rescuers Face Threat of Landslides, Rockfalls; Death Toll at 12

TEMPO.CO, Hualien - Rescuers in Taiwan faced the threat of further landslides and rockfalls in Friday's search for a dozen people still missing from this week's earthquake, as the death toll rose to 12 while some of those stranded were brought to safety.

Searchers discovered two more bodies after Wednesday's quake of magnitude 7.2 struck the sparsely populated, largely rural eastern county of Hualien, stranding hundreds in a national park as boulders barrelled down mountains, cutting off roads.

2. Constitutional Judge Decide Not to Summon President Jokowi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Constitutional Judge Arief Hidayat stated that the panel adjudicating the dispute over the results of the general elections (PHPU) did not summon President Joko Widodo or Jokowi because he is both the head of state and head of government.

According to Arief, it is not appropriate to summon Jokowi to the trial because the President is a symbol of the state that must be respected.

3. Jokowi Asks 2025 State Budget Plan to Be Discussed with Prabowo's Administration

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi held a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, April 5, 2024, to discuss the indicative ceiling for the 2025 State Budget (APBN).
