TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national football team has made the biggest jump in the FIFA World Ranking, climbing eight places to 134th after triumphing in their last two matches against Vietnam in the second qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asia.

According to FIFA’s official website on Thursday, April 4, Indonesia amassed the highest additional points of 30.04 to reach a tally of 1102.7 points, the best ranking the Garuda squad has achieved in the last thirteen years.

Previously, the team coached by Shin Tae-yong was among the top 140 globally on October 19, 2011.

With the current position, Indonesia has surpassed the ranking of neighboring Malaysia, which has slumped to 138th. Besides, the Garuda squad is now ranked third in the Southeast Asia zone, lagging behind Vietnam, which is ranked 115th in the world by only 62 points.

Thailand, meanwhile, still leads the ASEAN Zone, occupying the 110th place with a total of 1208.93 points.

Indonesia can further enhance its FIFA Ranking if it can manage to secure victory in the third qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup in June. The national team, led by Asnawi Mangkualam, will face Iraq at home on June 6 and the Philippines on June 11.
