TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Thursday, March 28, that no Indonesian citizens were among the victims of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, United States.

The Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC continued to monitor the case development through the relevant authorities and Indonesian communities in Baltimore City.

Regarding the ship captain who was reportedly an Indonesian national, the Ministry's spokesperson Lalu Muhammad Iqbal stated that this issue was still being clarified with the relevant authorities.

The Baltimore bridge collapsed after the Singapore-flagged container ship named Dali broke down due to a power outage. The vessel was en route to Sri Lanka from the port of Baltimore, United States.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. local time Tuesday when the cargo ship became stuck on a support pier of the bridge over the mouth of the Patapsco River.

At least six workers were declared missing in the incident, which forced the closure of one of the busiest ports on the eastern coast of the United States.
