TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Switzerland-based luxury travel company, Kuoni, released a list of the world’s most fascinating travel experiences, to help travelers sift through their plans in 2024.

To rank these experiences, Kuoni compiled a list of events that occur semi-annually or less and then analyzed which of these events received the most Google searches. While most of these events are located in Europe and the United States, the list also features two Asian destinations.

Here's a list of the top ten most searched-for travel experiences.

1. Manhattanhenge, New York

Manhattanhenge is a rare and captivating event that takes place between May and July, when the sun's alignment precisely defines the city's streets, offering tourists a stunning sunset view among Manhattan's towering skyscrapers. This phenomenon, also known as the Manhattan Solstice, is truly mesmerizing.

2. Venice Carnival, Italy

The Venice Carnival in Italy takes place annually, just before Lent. In 2024, the carnival will run from January 27 to February 13. It is renowned worldwide for its alluring costumes and masks and includes numerous balls, light shows, and musical performances, making it a truly enchanting experience.

3. Rio Carnival, Brazil

Rio Carnival in Brazil is one of the oldest carnivals in the world and is held before the Lent celebrations. Millions of people hailing from different countries take to the streets in joyful festivities.

4. Day of the Dead, Mexico

Taking place in early November in Mexico, the Day of the Dead (Día de Muerto) is an annual celebration to remember and celebrate the memory of the deceased. This ritual includes preparing food and making offerings to the dead and is a poignant yet beautiful experience.

5. Chelsea Flower Show, United Kingdom

Held every May in London, the Chelsea Flower Show is not only a flower show but also an awards ceremony for inspiring flowers, gardens, and plants. The event is a perfect destination for anyone trying to improve their home garden.

6. Golden Week, Japan

Golden Week is the most beautiful time to visit Japan. 9. Oktoberfest, Germany

10. Obon Festival, Japan

This annual Japanese celebration takes place to honor and remember ancestors. It is believed that the spirits of the deceased come to visit the living family during this festival guided by hanging paper lanterns. The festival features traditional dances, grave visits, and food offerings placed on home altars. It is incredibly poignant with a breathtaking sheer number of lanterns, making it a deeply moving and unforgettable experience.
