TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati met with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank or AIIB Jin Liqun ahead of the second session of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting in São Paulo, Brazil.

During the brief Wednesday meeting, the minister and Jin Liqun discussed AIIB’s role in facilitating the development in Asia, including Indonesia.

“Including, Indonesia itself, which currently carries out the Energy Transition Mechanism as a national priority agenda to tackle climate change,” Sri Mulyani wrote on her official Instagram, @smindrawati, as quoted on Friday.

According to Sri Mulyani, multilateral development banks or MDBs have a critical role in development, not only in Indonesia but also globally.

“To realize a fair and affordable energy transition mechanism for all countries in the world,” she wrote.

Sri Mulyani visited Brazil for the first agenda of FCMBG, which faced G20 member’s Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors. In her Instagram, she wrote earlier that Brazil has several economic similarities with Indonesia.

“Brazil actually has a number of similarities with Indonesia. Starting from its recovering economy post-crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, its positive economic growth, and the downward trend of unemployment rate. Brazil is currently listed as the top 10 biggest economy in the world,” she wrote.
