TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number three Ganjar Pranowo responded to rumors that his running mate, Mahfud MD, opposed his call for the House of Representatives’ (DPR) inquiry into the election which he deemed has been marred with fraud.

Ganjar brushed off the rumor. “No, I think it’s wrong,” Ganjar said briefly at his volunteer group’s (TKRPP) building in Jakarta, on Friday, Feb. 23.

As reported earlier, Mahfud MD was reluctant to comment on the call for the House inquiry to investigate alleged fraud during the 2024 general elections.

The former coordinating minister for political, legal, and security affairs said it is a political party matter, in which he is not involved. “I will not comment on the right to inquiry and the right to interpellation. It's a matter of the will of the parties,” Mahfud said on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Mahfud’s indifference left room for speculation that he did not support the House inquiry.

The proposal to roll out the right to inquiry in the House was previously pushed by Ganjar Pranowo. He stressed the need to address allegations of fraud in the 2024 presidential election.
