TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The supporters of Ganjar-Mahfud presidential pair planned to stage a demonstration rejecting the 2024 election results near the Horse Statue in the Monas area, Jakarta, on February 19, 2024.

The police, in response, would deploy nearly 2,000 personnel to secure the rally. “A total of 1,978 personnel are ready to serve and provide security if the rally goes ahead,” Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro said today as reported by Antara.

Earlier, the volunteer group issued the Brawijaya Petition in South Jakarta and planned to stage a protest today at the Horse Statue and the Election Supervisory Agency’s (Bawaslu) office in Central Jakarta.

The demonstrators, comprising around 200-300 people, would demand justice for the people and reject the 2024 election. They would make a long march to the Bawaslu’s office.

Susatyo claimed that the police have not yet implemented a traffic diversion policy, so it would depend on the situation. He called on the masses taking part in the protest to maintain order and peace until the activity ended and appealed to motorists to exercise caution when passing through the rally's vicinity.
